Despite the development of contemporary sociology in this recent years is unquestionable, especially in the case of the proposition of new heuristics notions that provide subsidies to the analysis of the connections between art and social injunctions, it is clear that the field of studies related to popular culture in Brazil did not share with the same intensity this creative batch. Aiming to fill this gap, in this article I present some sociological notions developed from the confrontation with research materials dear to Brazilian Popular Music. I assume that there are two mainly types of intellectuals who organize and constrain different social domains giving the meaning of symbolic productions in the universe of popular arts. From the contacts, the conflicts and the cooperation drawn between these two groups of discourse makers, historical junctures would be forged, restructured and reinterpreted, a fact that would enable new ways of vision, the eruption and crystallization of institutions and songs.
