A major strength of the women's movement has been to highlight the complexity of social dynamics and the action of social subjects, and the existence of a highly heterogeneous fields of conflict. This transformative political action of women was one of the forces that worked in Brazil for 60 years until today, participating in a general movement that sought major changes only are today's generations may actually know. Despite the expected difficulties in this process, the consequences of these changes can already be felt from the 80's, when some policies began to be deployed in defense of women's rights. I had the opportunity to participate in the creation of a course aimed at women leaders, as recently as 2008, the month's municipal elections in the country. In this episode, one might get in touch with women who live within these processes, expressing their experiences with these complex phenomena, which are deeply involved and not just its outcome or its cause. For this reason, I return now that experience in order to produce a qualitative and quantitative research, based on data collected in a Census 2008 (questionnaire to all 107 students of Lidfem I), whose answers constitute a database collected by Scholars students NEPEM-UFMG (Center for Studies and Research on Women). The database is a starting point of this research. The goal now is to try to understand more broadly and deeply into this phenomenon - the emergence of women leaders in Minas Gerais - from the experience of a selected sample of former students in that course, making a comparative study about the experience of women leaders and women who lead a life gathered at the home.
