RC05 Racism, Nationalism and Ethnic Relations (host committee)

With neoliberal demands for increasing accountability on the part of universities, there are concerns that our research is under threat or, at best, is becoming deeply compromised. Nowhere is this clearer than in the context of bureaucratic regimes that impose narrow conceptions of research “quality” and “impact”. We invite papers that debate the possibilities and prospects of an effective public sociology in the context of research on racism and nationalism in different societies.
