Theoretical and methodological papers are invited to this session that focus on the need for intersectionality within childhood studies. Intersectionality is both "a method and a disposition, a heuristic and analytical tool". It is used to refer to the interdependent phenomena of oppressions based on race, gender, class, sexuality, disability, nationality and other social categories. Hence it counters unidimensional and exclusionary analyses of oppression that emenate from both state and personal intimate relations. Identities are now understood as constructed and provisional based both on not only on normative gender, class, race and ethnicity  but also nonnormative gender, physical (dis) abilities, religion, age class  and nation - varying over time and context thus disrupting hierarchies of oppession, opening up spaces fpr more inclusive and coalitional social movements and agendas.
