Session Type: Oral

Gender imbalance in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) education has been subject to many studies, yet the 2003 Osborne and colleagues’ observation that the large volume of this research leads to relatively few useful policy recommendations is still valid. Therefore, this session calls for studies that focus on providing policy-relevant action plans, evaluation studies or new theoretical/empirical insights into why diverse policies succeed or fail in bridging the gender divide in STEMM. Both empirical studies and theories that help conceptualize educational policy and its impact, comparative or based on local case studies, are welcome.
