Location:

RC26 Sociotechnics, Sociological Practice (host committee)

Language: English

Session Type: Oral

The session aims to reflect on the centrality that even more complex narrative architectures have acquired today in the broader political field. Not only the world of politics in the strict sense - starting from the two phases, less and less differentiated, of election campaign and government - but the whole social construction of reality, from the medical sciences to the military and security sector, from the cultural industry to the legal system, today is characterized by the strategic relevance acquired by increasingly sophisticated forms of storytelling.

The session therefore welcomes contributions addressing, from a theoretical or an empirical perspective, through case studies or comparative studies, one of the following issues:

  • Political storytelling strategies between populist and counter-populist narratives.
  • Scientific communication and anti-scientific narratives in a hybrid media system.
  • Propaganda and counterpropaganda strategies in the military and security field.
