Environmental crimes and other illicit activities in rural and remote areas are now globally the third highest criminal activity after narcotics and illegal arms trade. Approximately, a revenue of $135 billion is generated from environmental criminal activities. This has created a substantial negative impact on our society as it has created an imbalance in our ecological system. To counter this negative impact, state should take up appropriate administrative and legislative measures. They may take help of international agencies in this field. If those agencies, particularly INTERPOL collaborate, then it would be easier to gather criminal information, prevent and prosecute the perpetrators of environmental crimes. To implement such a strategy a holistic approach needs to be adopted.  Elimination of Environmental crime is now regarded as highest priority as it has created imbalance in the 3Es- Economy, Ecology and Equity. Our ecosystem plays a vital role by supporting us to generate revenues, and at the same time to protect our environment by judiciously using the resources so that our planet is well protected for the present as well as future generations.
