The Covid-19 pandemic greatly impacts our research practice. This is especially so for interpretative social research, and in particular biographical research, which is always connected to establishing close contact with people with its method-pluralistic approach including i.a. narrative interviews, participant observation and visual methods. Therefore, the impact of the pandemic is so severe in our area of research and methodological questions cannot be raised without taking into account the impact of the pandemic on living conditions and increasing social inequality. In this invited session biographical researchers from different regions will report from and discuss their research experiences during the COVID19-pandemic. They will detail the ways in which the crisis limited (or enlarged) possibilities for their work. They will present first results on the influence of the COVID19-pandemic on biographies and analyse the differences between different world regions. In this context, many questions arise, ranging from the influence of the pandemic on data collection and the relationship with the "subjects" of research to the impact on research of ethical issues. Thus, it provokes the engagement with crucial aspects of interpretative research such as reflexivity and intersubjectivity.
