The last three decades have witnessed changes in gender roles, household and family structure, educational system, family policies and female labor force participation. But one of the most fascinating has been the reversal of the male advantage in higher education. Despite this, the division of domestic work/reproductive work, sex segregation in occupational structure and higher education sex segregation in fields of study and gender wage gap are resistant to that changes forces. This session welcomes papers that provide empirical evidence or theoretical explanation to the impact of higher education expansion for women in gender pay gap, women social mobility, occupational and carrers sex segregation, gender inequalities in educational performance and attainment in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and humanities fields.
