The IV ISA Forum focuses on the major challenges of the 21st century – democracy, environment, inequalities and intersectionality. This session aims to illuminate the themes of inequalities and intersectionality from the perspective of the professions. Papers are invited to address the following questions. How have increasing global inequalities affected the professions? In a globalising world what is the relation between professions and professional associations in the global north and those in the south? How have professions addressed (or not) the interconnected economic, racial, colonial and gender discriminations that continue to haunt the world. Are professions able to offer innovative solutions to the major challenges of the 21st century? Are we able to come with innovative theoretical perspectives that enable us to understand professions in a global context in the twenty-first century?
