Abstract Submissions Closed

Thursday, 25 February 2021: 14:15-15:45
Location:

TG04 Sociology of Risk and Uncertainty (host committee)

Language: Spanish and English

Session Type: Oral

This session calls for collective reflection on two major thematic areas: On the one hand, the public constructions of risk and uncertainty as a field of action and a political arena; on the other hand, contemporary migratory processes.

The emphasis is placed on the way in which risk and uncertainty are articulated within the narratives, practices and strategies developed by various social actors involved in the multiple dynamics of human mobility. We welcome, although not exclusively, proposals on any of the following problems:

  • Democracy, Migration Policies and Construction of Immigration as a risk
  • Political Regimes and Geopolitics of Migration
  • Risk, Illegalities and Citizenship
  • Forced Displacement, Refuge and Uncertainty
  • Migration Industry
  • Transnational Social Space, Networks and Migratory Chains
  • Environmental Crises and Human Mobility
