This session aims to discuss recent changes in the world that concern public action, social policy, humanitarian aid legitimated by social, political, economic and ecological crisis. This transformation process blurs former political and/or national frontiers, implying transnational bonds and forms of financialization. The rising of the commodification of all spheres of life, the diversification of markets and the use of private funds go together with new moral economies and a moral government of the poor. In this session we invite to identify some of what we could call “laboratories of new forms of governmentality”, focusing on a multi-scalar/situated perspectives on relations between economic and financial interests on the one hand and the place of the social, on the other. These relations can imply power relations, circulation of knowledge, social technologies and practices, but also of different actors. We are particularly interested in researches that mobilizes empirical research and a diversity of data leading to theorization. Also to discuss recent mechanisms of governmentality that have changed the place of the public and the private, mobilizing several fields such as economic and social development, ecological and social sustainability/conflicts, human aid. Recent configurations and technologies of interventions that create new institutions and markets, as for example public-private partnerships (PPP), the so called social technologies, the roles of religious institutions and civil society. What is the place of social policies? What is the role of the State and its counterpart? Who are the actors? How it implicates individual and groups in an intersectional standpoint?
