Sociology of Organizations: Contributions from Latin América
Abstract Submissions Closed
RC17 Sociology of Organization (host committee)
Language: Spanish and English
Session Type: Oral
In recent decades, theoretical, methodological, and thematic diversity seems to have dramatically decreased in organizational sociology, rendering the discipline decreasingly able to understand empirical developments.
This session provides a forum for empirical and methodological impulses in the sociology of organizations from Latin-American scholars. We believe that one key to new theoretical innovation is to leave the narrow pathways that European and Anglo-Saxon-dominated debates have paved in recent decades. We want to open up these debates for possible enlightenment from largely ignored research orientations. In the context of the conference location in Porto Alegre, we particularly call for contributions on empirical sociology of organizations research and methodological approaches.
The session is aimed at gaining a full, enriched and updated perspective on organizations research facilitating discussion of the ways in which works from Latin America can offer innovative impulses for a global renewal of organization theory.
The session features oral presentations as well as poster presentations.
