In the 40 years history following Catton and Dunlap (1978) , Environmental Sociology has developed in so many countries and so many regions. In each country, has environmental sociology diversified and localized reflecting environmental degradation and incidents, the cultural and academic backgrounds, and the historical contexts? If so, we should call environmental sociologies stressing plurality rather than a singular of environmental sociology. In this session, varieties and characteristics of environmental sociologies will be expected to reveal from all continents and geographical points of view. Interaction between environmental sociology and society, or Interaction between environmental sociology and mainstream sociology should be focused on. Another question is that beyond the varieties and characteristics in each country and region, how has environmental sociology standardized and kept the academic identity.
