The new coronavirus pandemic has put the world on hold since the beginning of 2020. Besides all macro dimensions, it was a global event that changed the daily routines and lives of every human being on the planet, with multiple impacts on the future. Bringing together leading authors from 27 countries and all continents, the book Social Movements in a Global Pandemicexplores the global echoes of the pandemic and the different local and national responses adopted by governments, policy makers and activists. The authors reveal how the pandemic exacerbates inequalities across the planet and intensify social and economic problems, whilst opening up new solidarities and hopes for a better world.
