My current research explores the climate of disbelief of disclosures of family violence in the family court systems in New Zealand and California and the effect that disbelief has on the safety and wellbeing of women and children who seek protection in the courts. Specifically, it focuses on the rates at which family courts disbelieve disclosures of abuse and the long-term effect that being disbelieved has on victims.
