Itinerant cinema has played a key role in the cultural regeneration and redevelopment of disused spaces, transforming temporary places into centers of social and cultural gathering. It will explore how the architecture of traveling cinema fits into contemporary cities, creating new collective imaginaries and revitalizing neighborhoods through film projection.

Through the analysis of Italian case studies, such as the experience of itinerant cinematographs and the project “Il Cinema in Piazza” by the Cinema America Boys, this paper will highlight how cinema, thanks to its ability to adapt and fit into different urban contexts, fosters the regeneration of urban spaces, helping to make places that are often abandoned more inclusive.

The movie theater thus becomes a dynamic element, capable of offering a collective viewing experience that responds to the social and cultural needs of citizens, promoting participatory and innovative redevelopment.

The analysis aims to offer a contribution to understanding the potential of the traveling cinema as a tool for urban regeneration and for building new spaces of sociality and culture.
