Integrating Health Sociology into Healthcare Education: Challenges and Opportunities in Romania

In Romania, the integration of health sociology into the curricula of healthcare professionals remains an underexplored yet essential component of medical education. This paper addresses the critical role that health sociology plays in shaping the understanding of social determinants of health, patient behavior, and the broader healthcare system among future professionals. Drawing on both theoretical frameworks and practical case studies, the presentation will explore the current state of health sociology education in Romania, identifying key challenges such as limited institutional focus, insufficient interdisciplinary collaboration, and a lack of tailored pedagogical approaches.
