This paper introduces Visual Orientation, a method designed to foster collaborative and democratic learning through visual mapping techniques. Developed in Italy for high school students and teachers, the method leverages personal images to enable self-awareness and systemic thinking in career guidance. By utilizing visual elements, participants from diverse backgrounds—including those with limited language skills—are empowered to reflect on their capabilities and envision multiple possible futures. This approach aligns with European frameworks such as LifeComp and GreenComp, offering a tailored path for personal and professional development. The method is particularly effective in promoting social justice by addressing the needs of individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, bridging the gap between aspirations and resources. Tested in educational and professional settings, Visual Orientation serves as a tool for both individual and collective learning, encouraging students to co-create knowledge and take ownership of their career paths. This presentation explores how visual sociology methodologies contribute to a more inclusive, democratic, and collaborative form of teaching and learning in career guidance.
