The interaction dynamics within the family will undergo profound changes with the changes in the composition of the family. The unique interaction dynamics leads to the possibility for the manifestation of a particular pattern of behavior by the members. Joint family or extended family is the most common and uniform family patterns found in India. Globalization affects people with respect to their way of life, culture, values, fashion, preferences etc. Indian culture is in transformation process. Traditions and culture of any geographical region hold a special significance to its uniqueness. India is a bouquet of flowers varying religion, custom, music and art etc. India has joint family system. In metropolitan cities, the small flat culture are developing with nuclear families children are treating grandparents like guest or visitors. The present study is based on 100 families of Varanasi city, U.P., India. The data have been collected from primary and secondary sources.
The main objectives are : (1) to find out the socio-economic profile of the respondents. (2) What are the pattern of behavior among members of the family? (3) Whether the nature of authority is more towards negotiating relationship? (4) What are the impact of globalization on family structure, norms, values, attitudes, standards of living? It has been found that globalization has affected in all aspects of family life. Now they are enjoying Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Hi, Hello, Christmas etc.
