Based on ethnographic research on the South Korean labor movement in the aftermath of the Asian financial crisis and critical reflection on community organizing in post-Ferguson Uprising St. Louis, my commentary reflects on the kinds of sociality that surfaced in those respective contexts and raises questions about producing new radical imaginaries – cultural and affective repertoires of dissent – in contemporary protests against precarity.
