Global Secularity is a series of seven sourcebooks, growing out of the long-term research project Multiple Secularities: Beyond the West, beyond modernities. The sourcebooks show distinctions and differentiations between religion and other social spheres in a variety of historical and regional contexts. Many sources have been translated into English for the first time, including from Arabic.
In this talk, I will present the basic idea of the series as a whole, and will then focus on the recently published first two volumes dedicated to global theoretical debates and to sources from within the MENA region, respectively.
