LEGAL Aspects of the Development of Islamic Education in Russia

This paper is devoted to the phenomenon of Islamic education in Russia and, in particular, to the legal framework in which the Islamic education system currently functions. We provide an overview of the legislative features of the implementation of the right to receive religious education in the Russian Federation and legal norms that, to one degree or another, regulate the Islamic education system. We also give a general description of the state of Islamic education from the point of view of historical features and a comparison of the religious component with the secular nature of the general education system in Russia. The paper also provides an analysis of the legal status of various levels of Islamic education - primary (maktabs), secondary (madrasahs), secondary vocational (colleges), higher, as well as postgraduate education.
