Among reasons for simultaneous decrease in number of abortions and fertility are spread of effective contraception and reproductive decisions of young reproductive age population ("generation Z" 15-29 years old). Actual: clarification of the choice of young people in case of unplanned pregnancy and permissibility of abortion. Materials and methods: statistical analysis of the survey of 1st year students (Medical University 2024, 104 people). Results: 83% of respondents are women, 85% of all respondents plan marriage (90% - official), 67% want children, 6% don’t want, 10% already have children, the rest haven’t thought about children. Every second woman is ready to terminate unplanned pregnancy, but necessarily in clinics. Attitude of women’s parents: 45.2% - will be happy; 23.8% - will not approve, but help; 21.4% - will be conflict. More than 80% allow abortion with: "material difficulties", "medical contraindications" - 86.2%; "young age", "conception after sexual violence", " fetal pathology" - 82.8%; "sex of fetus" - 6.9%. Contraception (know): male condom - 86.2%, coitus interruptus - 58.6%, intrauterine devices - 55.2%, modern methods - 33%. Contraception (used): 20% - don’t use any, 25% - coitus interruptus, 67% - male condom. What can increase the birth rate: 79.3% - "guarantees of state financial support for single mothers", 65.2% - "guarantees for women return to former job after childbirth", 65.2% - "family's own housing", 58.6% - "security and work". Conclusions: young people at the age of active reproduction, which accounts for most of first births, are not familiar enough with modern methods of contraception, they know traditional methods better, but don’t use them. Unplanned pregnancy is almost equally likely to be saved and terminated, but abortion is chosen only safely, in medical clinics. The childbirth is interpreted as a personal decision, although the assistance of state and family is taken into account.
