Oral Presentation
This paper explores the evolution of women's integration into the Belgian Defence over the past 50 years, with a focus on the challenges and progress that have defined their experience. From a sociological perspective, the study investigates how women have increasingly been included in diverse roles within the military, while examining the social and institutional barriers that persist. Key moments of progress are juxtaposed with the resistance to change, which continues to shape the experiences of women at the Belgian Defence. The paper also look into broader issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the military context, assessing how these principles are applied to women's integration. By critically assessing these elements, the article sheds light on the ongoing challenges and identifies necessary steps toward achieving genuine equity within military organizations.
