The article explores the complex dynamics of Ethiopian diaspora politics, specifically focusing on the perspectives of the Amhara, Tigray, and Oromo ethnic groups spanning from November 2018 to November 2022. These groups have engaged in fervent debates and discussions, primarily through online platforms like Twitter. They interpret and politicize historical events and current issues based on their distinct political and ethnic affiliations. The research centers around five key topics: King Menelik II, the Battle of Adwa, the Tigray War, the Aanolee Monuments, and the 1995 EPRDF Constitution, particularly Article 39. Consequently, it sheds light on how these groups perceive and shape Ethiopia's past, present, and future. The article examines the role of social media in exacerbating ethnic tensions and inciting violence during conflicts. It also argues that the underlying disputes among these groups are rooted in fundamental questions about Ethiopian nationhood, influenced by historical interpretations and contemporary political realities. Ultimately, this research aims to comprehend how these groups interpret and politicize shared events, thus shaping distinct social realities.
