The scholars of globalization studies often focus on the cultural globalization taking place across the nations often showing a convergence trend towards modern western world. An interesting trend is also observed among the Muslim women in different countries where a new trend of globalization is observed in diffusion of cultural items like dresses and ideas from the countries of origin. A sense of religious consciousness along with a sense of self dignity and empowerment is found to observe among these women highly facilitated by their participation in social media platforms.
This paper attempts to explore the globalization of culture among the Muslim women in India with an inquiry to its association or dissociation from the dominant trend of globalization in the world. The paper will be particularly focusing on the empirical context of Muslim women of Assam in India
The data source consists both of both primary and secondary nature. The primary data will be collected from the Muslim women of different sections of society of the state of Assam in India. The secondary data consists of books, journals and different media contents including social media.
