Professor Felix Geyer and the Research Committee RC51 “Sociocybernetics” – a Cradle of Analytical Perspective on the Contemporary Societal Problems

Professor Felix GEYER (1933-2020) means a founding research structures personality. He was in 1970, Head of the Methodology Division at SISWO, Netherlands Universities Joint Social Research Centre. He is one of the forerunners of the NOSMO, the Dutch Organization of Social Research Methodologists.

Today it is entitled as the Research Committee RC51 “Sociocybernetics” / being part of the International Sociological Association (ISA), it is one of the ISA’s 57 Research Committees.

This research structure initially was a part of the World Organization of Systems and Cybernetics (WOSC). In 1996, in Bucharest – hosted by the first private University from Romania – Ecological University Bucharest (www.ueb.ro), Rector: Professor Ph.D. Dolphy DIMMER – there was hosted the 10^th World Congress of WOSC. There was the second time that Bucharest was hosted World Congresses of WOSC. In 1996, this division of this Congress, was gaining the interest and dedication of nearly 50 personalities from all over the world. Sure, this result was the effect of worldwide documentation and spreading the news by Professor Felix Geyer – the scientific and organizational tasks are creatively merging.

This cradle of a high-level analytical perspective on the contemporary societal problems

Professor Ph.D. Felix GEYER’s knowledge elicited / into one of his works had exposed a set of analysts: {Romantics; Cynics; Realists}. The present organizer of this RC55 Joint Session in the ISA Forum from July 2025, in Rabat, Marocco, is/was impressed by this assertion, and according to his local knowledge propose to the participants to inquire:

Are there more than these three types of analysts?
Has Anthropocene long-long period other types of analysts in ovo – wich was their role(s) in surviving and growth those Humankind?
