The term values can refer to attributes and perceptions that a person shares with members of his social group. Societal values can guide the behaviors of individuals in a society by setting goals and ideals. The study of societal values allows us to explain the organization and change of human society, both at the societal and individual levels. The analysis of societal values will allow us to explain the basic motivations that underlie people's attitudes and behaviors.

This paper is concerned with the effects of societal values among citizens in Morocco. It aims to determine if the sacred values of Moroccan citizens favorably influence the social cohesion and cohabitation with others Among Moroccans?

Based on the World Values Survey data for Morocco, we will try to:

  • Understand the basic meaning that the Moroccan citizen gives to religion and Societal values;
  • Know whether the Moroccan tends to make religion the main driver of his practices and attitudes towards events and issues that he experiences within society and other peoples from others countries?

The paper will also present the methodological challenges encountered at the level of national surveys carried out in Morocco.
