This paper critically examines the complex notions of justice surrounding the long-standing disputes in Gaza, focusing on the intersection of religion, occupation, and armed conflict. With the October 7th, 2024 escalation involving Hamas and Hezbollah, framed by some as resistance movements, and Israel’s military response, labeled by others as genocide, the ethical and legal implications become pressing. The financing of artillery by foreign states exacerbates the violence, further entrenching both sides in cycles of retribution. Additionally, the control of refugees by Hamas deepens the humanitarian crisis, raising questions about the broader geopolitical dynamics that perpetuate this conflict. This analysis contributes to ongoing debates about the legitimacy of resistance, state violence, and the international community’s role in mitigating or exacerbating these tensions.
