Wednesday, 9 July 2025: 11:00-12:45
Location: FSE009 (Faculty of Education Sciences (FSE))
RC01 Armed Forces and Conflict Resolution (host committee)

Language: English and Spanish

How have the Armed Forces dealt with democratic regimes? This issue has been present since the beginning of studies about the Armed Forces, State, and Society, but it has gained new momentum in contemporary times. In particular, the emergence of authoritarian political forces has raised questions about the behavior of the military concerning democracy - as a threat, a guarantee, or trying to maintain a "neutral" position. Proposals based on empirical case studies and theoretical or comparative ones will be welcome in this session.
