Authors-Meet-Critics: Routledge Handbook of Academic Knowledge Circulation

Thursday, 10 July 2025: 15:00-16:45
Location: ASJE026 (Annex of the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences)
RC08 History of Sociology (host committee)

Language: English

The session is dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the Routledge Handbook of Academic Knowledge Circulation (published 2023). This is the first comprehensive multidisciplinary volume to explore processes of knowledge circulation through the perspectives of scholars from Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. Through a variety of literature reviews, examples of recent research and in-depth case studies, the chapters demonstrate that the analysis of knowledge circulation requires a series of ontological and epistemic commitments that impact its conceptualisation and methodologies. The Handbook endeavours to cover the full breadth and plurality of existing approaches. In this author-meets-critics-session, the Handbook will be presented by the editors and discussed by outstanding sociologists in the domain of knowledge circulation.
