The output or end result of visual research can take different forms ranging from the standard article or research report to image rich articles, visual essays and self-contained films, Web or DVD-based multimedia programs, and more arts-based approaches such as exhibitions, performances, and installations. It is important that the field further opens to approaches that try to go beyond using visual media as mere transmitters of characteristics of the depicted, and actively encourages options to visualize and express insights in novel, more experimental, and experiential ways. This session invites creative presentations of visual research and activist projects, as well as general reflections on the peculiarities of different formats.
