Recognizing gender diversity is a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. Despite this, there are sections in the society who are deprived off from their basic human rights based on their gender identity especially the LGBTQ community. The increased incidence of violence against LGBTQ community adequately and abundantly reflects the growing denial of fundamental rights and liberty to this marginalized section of society. In recent times a plethora of legislations, policies and judicial pronouncements though have brought certain improvements in their status, the social discrimination faced by them in their day-to-day life is hardly reported and discussed across the globe. In this complex scenario, there is an urgent need to create a space for serious discussions on the existing Laws, Policies and Practice recognizing gender diversity. The proposed session endeavors to bring social scientists from across the world to share their experiences and perspectives on the issue concerned.
