Ensuring access to equitable and inclusive education and lifelong opportunities for all is one of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations for the years 2016-2030. This calls attention to the need to establish educational spaces that actually promote this vision in a multicultural and multi-religious context. Reflection on the educational environment has often revealed ambivalent characteristics; while on the one hand it presents itself as a laboratory of fraternity, on the other hand it appears as a receptacle for social tensions. While the management of ethnocultural diversity in and through schools is not new, the increase of multiform violence observed in recent decades has brought back to the agenda the question of inhabiting the tensions between identity, otherness and coexistence. This session invites submission to empirical and conceptual work that help us dive deeper into the role of social love in transforming educational spaces and that open new avenues to re (imagine) new institutions capable of putting social love at the center of educational systems.
