Location: FSE008 (Faculty of Education Sciences (FSE))
RC56 Historical Sociology (host committee)

Language: English

Sexual rights and sexual violence are two topics that have received considerable attention in sociology, either directly or as part of research focused on gender, family, criminal and immigration legislation, the body, and similar areas. However, prevalent approaches to sexual rights and sexual violence primarily center on contemporary data and analysis. This session aims to create a space for discussing these topics from the perspective of historical sociology, irrespective of specific theoretical orientations. Additionally, it seeks to facilitate the discussion and comparison of different theoretical approaches. Therefore, this session will consider proposals for empirical research on these topics (individually or in relation to each other) as well as theoretical reflections on historical sociology's approaches to these themes.
