Military and Society Transformations after the Years of Full Scale War: The Case of Russo-Ukrainian Conflict

Thursday, 10 July 2025: 09:00-10:45
Location: FSE009 (Faculty of Education Sciences (FSE))
RC01 Armed Forces and Conflict Resolution (host committee)

Language: English

The session aims to deepen the understanding of the conflict's consequences in Ukraine from both local and global perspectives. It will address the profound changes in the world prompted by the war.

We will bring together Ukrainian scholars studying social transformations within Ukraine, Ukrainians living abroad, and researchers examining related social, economic, and political issues worldwide. We welcome reports on studies which explore the experiences of Ukrainian refugees abroad, the societal changes within Ukraine, Europe and the world resulting from the full-scale Russian aggression in 2022-2025, challenges of social prediction and planning for victory and recovery in post-war Ukraine. Additionally, the session will focus on the significant military transformations occurring during the conflict. We will examine the impact of mobilization on Ukrainian society, and the integration of advanced technologies, such as drones and other unmanned vehicles, into combat. Such technological advancements have significantly altered military tactics, strategy, and the relationship between the military and society.

By highlighting the contributions of Ukrainian social scholars and acknowledging the limitations of outsider knowledge, we aim to foster a more comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted impacts of the Russo-Ukrainian war.

This gathering will facilitate in-depth discussions on these pressing issues, shaping informed responses and strategies to address the ongoing and future consequences of the conflict.
