Survivors of gender-based violence depict tales of abuse ranging from the domestic sphere to the social and economic domain. The incidences of gender violence is showing an economic hike all over the world. This alarming scenario is not only a threat to world peace and safe society, it is also a threat to the well being of the present and future generations. The trend shows further enhancements during emergencies adding on to the woes of a major section of the society in hours of crisis. The SDGs 2015 as envisioned by UN promotes gender equality, peaceful, just and secure societies. Recognising gender-based violence, restoring victims of gender violence and responding to the outcry for justice is a primary task of the criminal justice system.
