The twenty first century has seen a variety of crimes occurring in the globalized world which have transcended national borders. These crimes are transitional, belonging to an ever changing industry, conforming to markets and creating new forms of crime. Globalization, liberalization, and economic expansion have increased the frequency of transnational crimes and harms. Threats of terrorism, trafficking in arms, drugs, organs and other illicit markets are prominent as cross border crimes. The international illegal markets are complex and anonymous and lucrative generating billions of dollars every year. Additionally, the crimes and harms of, smuggling and trafficking of people, genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity are also the outcomes of transnational crimes.
