Theorizing Risk and Uncertainty

Wednesday, 9 July 2025: 09:00-10:45
Location: SJES019 (Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences (JES))
TG04 Sociology of Risk and Uncertainty (host committee)

Language: English

This session invites papers which contribute to conceptual questions regarding risk and uncertainty or respond to theoretical debates. There are a large range of issues from the epistemological status of risk to the understanding of social inequalities through the lens of risk, from historical dynamics to the complexities of risk governance, from large societal theories of risk to the micro-dynamics of sensemaking, from the discourse semantics of risk to the everyday practices. We are looking forward to papers which address all kinds of theoretical and conceptual debate in particular but not restricted to the theme of the ISA-Forum.
