Bodies and Emotions in Climate Change Crisis: The Role of Solidarity
TG12 Social Love and Solidarity
Language: English and Spanish
From a sociology of bodies, considering that social practices tend to the production, management and reproduction of horizons of action, disposition and cognition, we propose to revise both theoretical approaches, and field studies that depict how solidarity and love play a role in the everyday strategies that deal with the so called eco-anxiety, among other possible responses to climate change issues.
The present session then aims at discussing -both from a current and historical perspective-, the role of the body and emotions in enduring and, eventually fighting climate change.
We invite research that both reflects on social science theory, and also that focus on situated practices (sensu Haraway) handling emotions related the environment; also welcome reflections on social movements related to solidarity and affection that foster practices which redefine "body-territory", among other key concepts in the field of environmental studies.--
