Third world terminology was coined during cold war period to segregate the nations under colonial domination marred with underdevelopment, extreme poverty, destitute, hunger, illiteracy, poor health and low capita income. These decolonized nations were struck by dense population, poor economy, wars, ethnic issues, terrorism and political instability. During the greater part of Post World War -II and Post cold war period the perspectives of human and civil rights discourse in the Third world countries revolved around, the decolonization phase involved struggle for self-government and independence from colonial domination amounting to greater violation of human rights of people by colonial oppression. The developmental process coinciding social, economic and political rights amounting to Social, Economic Political Instability and absence of Developmental paradigm. Democratization process and want of good governance towards the beginning of 21 st Centaury and end of 20th century.

The post-colonial era witnessed Migration of refugees in mass, ethnic conflicts, scourge of war, struggle for existence, struggle for right of self-determination has been major issues in serious breach of basic human rights of life, liberty and security in Third world Nations. Execution, detention, inhuman treatment with prisoners and civilians have been very common in these countries.

The Third world breach of human rights consisted in-

  • Social, Economic and Political Instability,

  • Gendered violence
  • Ethnic violence
  • female genital mutilations
  • Poverty, Malnutrition, Hunger and food insecurity
  • Social and cultural exclusion
  • Pollution and environmental degradation
  • War and political instability
  • Corruption and Misgovernance
  • Health care and disease
  • Illiteracy and education
