Location: ASJE014 (Annex of the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences)
RC34 Sociology of Youth (host committee)

Language: English

In the context of economic and social changes and inequalities (tied to technological and environmental change, among other factors), young people’s approach to economic engagement are shifting. This session calls for presentations that will investigate new ways of working and their intersection with young people’s lives. For example, among other topics, we are interested in new ways of creating social value using business methods (‘social enterprises’), the blurring boundaries between "for-profit" and "social", and the growth of sustainable and fair-trade models, and the expansion of corporate social responsibility and voluntary work, as they relate to young people. We are interested in papers that look at how young people are engaging in ‘work’ today, how new models of economic engagement shape the opportunities available to young people, and how young people’s values and understanding of the ‘social value’ of work, and their social activism, might be shaping changes in the economy.
and ethical economies. All approaches and methods are welcome.
