Interconnected Challenges, Interdisciplinary Solutions: The Language Barrier

Wednesday, 9 July 2025: 13:00-14:45
Location: ASJE027 (Annex of the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences)
RC25 Language and Society (host committee)

Language: English, French and Spanish

The title "Interconnected Challenges, Interdisciplinary Solutions” highlights the need for collaboration across disciplines to tackle complex problems, such as health, environment, migrations, inequalities ... However, this collaboration faces a significant hurdle: the presence/absence of different disciplinary languages.

While this presence presents challenges, it shouldn't be an insurmountable obstacle. By actively fostering interdisciplinary communication and developing shared understanding, we can turn this diversity into a powerful tool for addressing interconnected challenges. By navigating the "nexus" of these languages, we pave the way for truly interdisciplinary solutions and a healthier, more sustainable future.

We welcome all communications that address the issue of multidisciplinarity, either with concrete cases of cooperation between disciplines or with an analysis of the subject.
