Concern about the consequences of climate change has increased significantly in recent decades. Latest scientific studies (IPCC2022) leave no doubt about the urgency of the situation. Organizations such as Fridays for Future, Youth Climate Strike, Sunrise Movement, Riposte Alimentaire, WWF, Greenpeace, Just Stop Oil, Gender CC-Women for Climate Change, Extinction Rebellion, Scientist Rebellion, IIED, are part of a powerful new wave of change, inspiring millions of people to take action on the climate crisis. Driven by grassroots organizations acting in the daily lives of affected sectors in both Northern and Southern countries, socio-ecological practices (production, consumption, mobility, energy, recycling, housing, natural environment, natural resources) that attempt to adapt to, oppose or reverse the undesired consequences of climate change have increased. This session is devoted to present theoretical and empirical works, both quantitative and qualitative, on aspects such as social discourse, socioecological practices promoted by these groups, their organization and forms of action, as well as their social and political impacts on society, although not limited exclusively to them. Transdisciplinary works or works involving collaboration between different types of agents (movements, NGOs, scientists, technicians, politicians, activists, community leaders, citizens) are particularly welcome. Those interested in participating can send an abstract with a detailed contextualization of the proposal, theoretical approach, research question, objectives and methodology used, as well as the most relevant contributions.
