Potency or Impotence of Artists in Society

Thursday, 19 July 2018: 10:30-12:20
Location: 206E (MTCC NORTH BUILDING)
RC37 Sociology of Arts (host committee)

Language: English

This session invites papers about the (in)significance of artists as critical interventionists and change agents in society. Such assumed or aspired roles of artists can include "image framer", "neighborhood activist", "postindustrial job creator", or "political (r)evolutionary" but are not limited to such cultural, social, economic or political aspects. In fact, papers are also invited on failure, disinclination or passiveness of artists in societal contexts.
