The panel discusses the socio-political dimension of gender relations. We are particularly interested in the consequences, dynamics and outcomes of unequal power relations between men and women which, as stated in the preamble to the Istanbul Convention, have led to women’s discrimination and domination by men. If this unbalance prevents the full advancement of women and represents the condition for the manifestation of gender violence in times of peace, we see that it produces enhanced effects in times of crisis and of resurgent authoritarianism.
We therefore welcome papers that focus on
- Resurgent authoritarianism, civil rights and gender relations
- Unequal power relations between men and women
- Stereotypes and prejudices in the social representation of gender violence
- Women and war
- Women and the pandemic
- Women’s leadership in times of crisis
