Pluriversal Approaches to Human Rights and Sdg's
Abstract Submissions Closed
TG03 Human Rights and Global Justice (host committee)
Language: English
Session Type: Oral
This session seeks to address current struggles related to huma rights, SDGs, and justice.
It seeks to discuss what impact international human rights law has on the development and further implementation of policies related to SDGs, questioning how such instruments can become truly emancipatory. Further, it wishes to reflect on how pluriversality, as proposed by decolonial theories, may present transformative ways to approach human rights moving forward. Complex problems such as growing inequalities, violence, migration, and environmental injustice demand different approaches and solutions to the realization of rights. This session questions the idea of human rights as an emancipatory discourse and seeks to assess how pluriversal perspectives to rights may impact contemporary implementation gaps.
Articles seeking to gain a more comprehensive understanding of how social movements, civil society, NGOs, transnational corporations, and international organizations may impact HR policies’ implementation are welcomed. Particular emphasis may be placed on issues related to minority and indigenous rights, gender equality, racial discrimination and migration rights.
