RC28 Social Stratification (host committee)

Language: English

Session Type: Oral

This session invites papers that address everyday experiences of inequality across different dimensions. In addition to documenting patterns and trends in inequality of opportunities, social stratification scholars need to pay attention to subjective aspects of stratification and inequality such as perceptions, consciousness, and awareness of inequality experienced in everyday life. The actual degree and patterns of inequality may or may not resonate with perceived degree and patterns of inequality, inviting stratification scholars to understand the gap or consistency between the two different aspects of stratification.
