Abstract Submissions Closed

Friday, 30 June 2023: 17:30-19:20
Location: P1 (Crown)

RC35 Conceptual and Terminological Analysis (host committee)
RC02 Economy and Society

Language: English

Session Type: Oral

This session derives from an ongoing book project. Each paper argues in favor of one concept from another sub-field or discipline that is obscured, missing, or underappreciated in the field of Economy and Society. In the presentation, authors will make a theoretical argument of how our knowledge of economic life would be enhanced by brokering in the concept and provide empirical research to illustrate their argument. This session brings together five diverse concepts united in interpreting economic life using relational and cultural concepts.

A key motivation for this session is to end it with a 30 minute vibrant dialogue among the members of the audience to discuss and debate the concepts and how to improve the authors’ arguments and evidence. Our aspiration is for each member of the audience to leave the session with at least one new concept that they could potentially use in their own research, and for each author to leave with ideas to improve their papers.

This session is one of three in this project co-hosted by RC02 (Economy and Society) and RC35 (Conceptual and Terminological Analysis). Each session is independent of the others. Please feel free to attend as many (or as few) of these three sessions as you wish.
